Today, moonshine brewing is for many not just a source of high-quality and inexpensive alcohol, but also a hobby, an outlet. A favorite activity, doing which you can forget about problems and difficult life situations. Many of those who brew this drink do not drink it “pure”, preferring instead to create tinctures and liqueurs. I am one of these people; making tinctures has been my hobby for more than 6 years. We collect a wide variety of recipes that can be prepared at home with the whole family: we write down, try, experiment. The best drinks that we have come across were published in this blog, because there is no point in hiding them on the shelf, let every lover of moonshine at home enjoy the wonderful drinks, recipes for which you will find in this article.

As an introduction, it is worth saying the following: making such drinks at home is not a quick task; you often have to wait up to six months, and sometimes even longer. In my cellar there are containers marked 2010 and earlier, sometimes it’s even a pity to open them, because every year the drink only gets better, tastier, richer. All this is said to mean that you should not chase quick results; quality products are the fruits of months of infusion. However, for those who like quick infusions, in this article we will look at such options; perhaps someone will like them even more than those infused for years, it’s a matter of taste and personal preference.

Features of moonshine infusions

Fortress

Two types of tinctures are made from moonshine: liqueurs and tinctures themselves. Unlike liqueurs, the latter are not so sweet and much stronger. The amount of alcohol in them is 45% and higher, so tinctures made with strong homemade alcohol are better than with vodka, which has a lower alcohol content.

The basic rule for preparing tinctures is high quality moonshine. It must be well filtered and, preferably, double distilled so that unpleasant impurities and odors do not spoil the taste of the finished product.

As a good option: We select raw materials for the mash that would be in harmony with what is infused. We got moonshine from the first distillation and distilled it through a distillation column.

Sugar level

There are three types of tinctures based on the amount of sugar.

  1. Bitter. They are prepared with herbs or spices, for example, St. John's wort, galangal, oregano, ginger and so on. The sugar level in these drinks does not exceed 2% and only if it is contained in the products used.
  2. Semi-sweet (conditionally sweet). These are infusions of berries, often with the addition of herbs. The amount of sugar in them is related to how sweet the berries are used. But usually its level does not exceed 5-6%
  3. Sweet. This type includes a variety of tinctures to which sugar is added. In them its level is 18-20%

These drinks are usually not made too sweet, like liqueurs. Although a lot depends on taste, overly sugary strong alcohol is heavy and insidious.

General principles for preparing berry infusions

A homemade moonshine tincture will be of high quality if the original product is not only well purified, but also strong.

  • For a herbal drink, its strength should be 50%. If the strength exceeds 60%, then it is recommended to add water.
  • If berries are used, the alcohol content should be higher, preferably 70%. Because the berries will definitely give juice, which will dilute the finished product and reduce its strength.
  • It is better to prepare berry tincture from frozen berries, as they release more juice containing substances necessary for a better taste.
  • To get a drink with a pleasant, slightly caramel flavor, it is recommended to bake some berries, for example, in the oven.
  • You need to infuse moonshine in a warm and, preferably, dark place. In the light its taste will change, and in the warmth it will be ready for consumption faster.
  • The preparation time should be long, at least 2 months, and preferably 3–4.
  • During the infusion process, you should not open the lid, taste, etc. Since this can lead to oxidation of the moonshine and the taste will deteriorate.

Therefore, in order to prepare a tasty and high-quality drink, you need not only accuracy, but also patience.

Tincture recipes

"Klyukovka"

At home - one of the most famous. And not only because this berry is very well suited for preparing alcohol-containing drinks, but also because it contains a lot of vitamins, and the infusion is not only tasty, but also healthy.

The process of preparing Klyukovka is simple.

  • In a three-liter jar (frozen or freshly harvested).
  • Add 100 grams of sugar. Those who like it sweeter can increase its quantity.
  • Fill it to the top with moonshine and place it in a dark place for three months.
  • , drain the mixture through a colander and strain through cheesecloth.

Blackcurrant tincture

The aromatic one cooks faster than the cranberry one, but it also needs to sit for at least half a month. Moreover, it is worth remembering that the longer it infuses, the better and brighter the taste will be.

For a liter of moonshine you will need 1 kg of fresh black currants and 150 grams. Sahara.

Cooking process:

  1. Sort the berries, rinse and put into a jar.
  2. Add sugar and shake well to mix with blackcurrants.
  3. Pour moonshine into a container with berries and leave to infuse.
  4. After two weeks, drain and filter the tincture.

Lemon tincture (early ripening)

Tinctures can be prepared not only by cold method, but also by heat treatment. Heating strong alcohol with berries significantly speeds up the process of saturating it with aroma and taste and reduces the infusion time.

One of these “early ripening” tinctures is lemon. It can be done if guests are expected to arrive, but there is no ready-made wine.

Products:

  • liter of moonshine, strength not lower than 60%;
  • ½ lemon;
  • 70 grams of sugar
  • 4 cloves;

This drink should be prepared in a saucepan with a tight-fitting lid so that the light and volatile alcohol does not evaporate and the strength of the final product does not decrease.

Cooking process:

  1. Cut the lemon into half rings along with the zest.
  2. Place in a saucepan, add sugar, cloves and pour in moonshine.
  3. Then the mixture must be heated, but not to a boil, so that the alcohol does not begin to evaporate. Turn off the heat when the first bubbles just begin to rise from the bottom of the pan.
  4. Close with a tight lid and leave to infuse.
  5. After 12 hours, filter and, after bottling, put in the refrigerator for another couple of hours.

You can make cranberry tincture in a similar way.

Making moonshine tinctures is a fascinating and creative process. During which, you can enjoy not only the consumption and creativity, but also the enthusiastic reviews of guests.

To prepare homemade moonshine tinctures, we will use different products. For convenience, let's group them, divided into separate blocks. Recipes await us:

  • from dried fruits;
  • on berries;
  • on herbs;
  • on tea;
  • on fresh fruits and something else. Let's get started?

On dried fruits

Moonshine tincture with dried apricots is one of the simplest. Even a novice wine specialist can prepare it. We take:

  • moonshine (40% strength, you can use vodka instead) – liter;
  • dried apricots (150 g).

After washing the dried fruit, fill it with alcohol and put it in a dark place for 10 days. Shake periodically. After the specified period, filter through cotton wool, pour into a dark bottle, and put in the refrigerator.

Another tincture of moonshine at home - original mixture of raisins and dried apricots. We collect 100 g of raisins and dried apricots.

Fill the dried fruits with vodka or moonshine in an amount of 0.5 liters and leave them in the dark for 14 days. We filter and taste. Not sweet? Add honey – 3 tablespoons. Let the tincture stand for another 4 days. Then you can drink it. Do you feel what a pleasant aroma of dried apricots it exudes?

Date tincture

  • 0.5 kg dates with pits;
  • 0.5 l of vodka (alcohol, moonshine);
  • 2 glasses of water.

Mix everything. We stand for 2 weeks. Add sugar syrup (from a kilogram of sugar and half a liter of water). Only don't keep it for more than a couple of months: date seeds contain a toxic substance, which, when left in the liqueur for a long time, passes into it.

The tincture is useful for diseases of the kidneys and bladder.

Berry infusion

Moonshine (or high-quality vodka) liqueurs turn out excellent if you prepare them with berries. Let's try viburnum tincture first.

Kalina

Viburnum tincture on moonshine requires the use of:

  • viburnum (200 g);
  • pine nuts (20 pieces);
  • pinches of anise seeds;
  • moonshine (0.7 l);
  • a tablespoon of granulated sugar.

Mix everything except sugar. Sprinkle sugar on top of the mixture - about half the specified amount. We insist for 2 weeks. Filtering. We cook sugar syrup from the remaining portion and pour it into our future tincture. Let it sit for a couple more weeks. So preparing a tincture for feasts.

If you are interested healing tinctures on moonshine, then one of them is tincture of viburnum on moonshine, prepared in a slightly different way. Required:

  • viburnum berries (glass);
  • honey (glass);
  • moonshine or alcohol (glass).

  • stomach;
  • respiratory organs;
  • cardiovascular.

Raspberries

Raspberry tincture with moonshine: pour the berries into the jar 2/3 full and add the moonshine to the “neck”. After a month, drain the infusion, separating it from the berry mass. Filtering. Add sugar syrup to the infusion to make the infusion pleasant to the taste. This drink:

  • Strengthens the immune system.
  • Helps fight colds.

Enjoy the infusion with raspberries and don’t get sick!

Cranberry

And here is the recipe for cranberry moonshine tincture. Cranberries make an excellent alcohol-based remedy: this “northern lemon” is rich in vitamin C.

We prepare cranberry tincture with moonshine from:

  • moonshine (1 l);
  • cranberries (200 g);
  • water (150 ml);
  • sugar (2 tbsp).

Mash the berries. Cover them with sugar. Three days of infusion are necessary for the cranberries to produce juice. Now fill it with alcohol. We're waiting a month. Once every 3-4 days we look into the dark cabinet where the future drink is “ripening” and shake the bottle.

Next stage - filtration. If we had not mashed the berries, but instead pierced each one with a needle, the filtering process would have gone quickly - we would have passed it through a layer of gauze 1-2 times.

But mashed berries makes the drink cloudy. Therefore, you will have to filter it several times through a thick layer of cotton wool wrapped in gauze. Did you manage? Let the tincture rest for 3 days in the refrigerator and you can taste it.

Strawberry

Let's try the strawberry liqueur. Just the name of this moonshine liqueur makes you want to drink a glass as soon as possible. But first, a long preparation process. We take:

  • moonshine (liter);
  • strawberries (300 g);
  • granulated sugar (100 g).

After you mix the berries with moonshine, put the mixture in a dark place for 25 days. Shake it every three days. After 25 days have passed, add sugar syrup. You should keep the future drink in the dark for another day, shaking it every 4 hours. Now he's ready. Further storage possible for up to 4 years, only it must first be poured into a clean container.

Cherry

Cherry is a berry that appears in abundance on store shelves at the end of June. This period can be used to prepare cherry liqueur: you don’t have to take frozen berries, since there are plenty of fresh ones.

First, let's prepare a liqueur without sugar and evaluate the result. If it seems tart, add sugar or honey. We take:

  • a clean dark glass jar;
  • berries;
  • moonshine.

Pour the cherries into the jar so that it takes up two-thirds of the space. Next, pour the moonshine there so that it covers the berries and rises 1 cm above them. Having placed the jar in a dark place, we wait for a month and a half, periodically shaking its contents.

Filtering. We are doing a tasting. If you don't like the taste, soften it with sugar syrup. It is made from sand and water. The main thing: the syrup should make up no more than a third of the total volume of the cherry liqueur. Otherwise, you will not have a tincture, but a liqueur. However, if you like sweets, you can create liqueur.

Sea buckthorn

Sea buckthorn tincture is another original alcoholic drink. Sea buckthorn tincture can be both sweet and tart. To prepare sea buckthorn liqueur, take:

  • berries (2.5 kg);
  • moonshine (liter);
  • sugar (2 kg).

Mix the berries and some of the sugar. We wait for the day for the juice to release. Then add all the other ingredients and the remaining sand. We insist for a month. Be sure to filter it.

The second way to prepare moonshine tincture at home from sea buckthorn:

  • berries (0.25 kg);
  • honey (85 g);
  • water (0.6 l);
  • a bottle of moonshine.

The tincture will be unsweetened. It is infused for 18 days, after which it is filtered and drunk. But sea buckthorn tincture on moonshine is very useful: it is used at the first signs of a cold, chronic tonsillitis (to reduce the number of relapses), and bronchitis.

Cowberry

In addition to viburnum, cherry and sea buckthorn tinctures, lingonberry tincture has earned high praise from connoisseurs. The winemaker will need:

  • fresh lingonberries (500 g);
  • vodka or moonshine (liter);
  • granulated sugar (4 tablespoons).

After mixing the ingredients, the future drink should be placed in a dark place. Note to the winemaker: you should first mash the berries. This way the drink will absorb more nutrients. But after a month, you will need to strain the drink through cotton wool and gauze several times to achieve transparency.

If you decide not to mash the berries. the number of filtering procedures will be less. But there are also vitamins in the tincture.

Having finished all the manipulations, pour the tincture into a clean container and put it in the refrigerator for a week.

Rowan

Rowan tincture is good on a cold winter day. The rich, bright color and spicy taste warm and remind you of warm summer. Take a kilogram of rowan and add to the berries:

  • moonshine (1.2 l);
  • sugar (100 g).

To remove bitterness from rowan, before preparing the tincture, the berries are placed in the freezer for a day. Ready? pour the berries into a container, pour in moonshine so that it covers the rowan completely and rises slightly above the layer of berries - about a centimeter. Let it last 4 weeks. Drain the infusion and pour moonshine over the rowan again in the same order.

After a week of infusion, mix the first and second infusions. Add sugar syrup and wait another month. Now we can say that the rowan tincture is ready.

A good tincture of chokeberry. To prepare it you will need:

  • berries (1 kg);
  • moonshine (1 l);
  • sugar (up to 500 g - to taste).

When you pour alcohol into the chokeberry, make sure that the moonshine covers the berries by at least 1-1.5 cm. The chokeberry tincture should be kept in a dark place for 2 months. Then it is filtered and tasted.

Hawthorn tincture helps cope with heart ailments and reduces blood pressure. Take 100 g of berries and 500 g of vodka (moonshine). We keep it in the dark for 14 days and filter it. We don’t drink in glasses, but 20 drops per dose! This is the only way the tincture will reveal its beneficial qualities.

How to infuse tea?

Somewhat less known are recipes for moonshine infusions on tea leaves. Moonshine tincture with tea is prepared like this. We take:

  • 2 tablespoons of dry tea (black);
  • 500 ml moonshine;
  • a couple of tablespoons of granulated sugar.

Mix everything. Leave in a dark place for a week. Filtering. In the same way, you can prepare liqueur with hibiscus tea.

Experienced winemakers also use green tea. For 7-10 days they infuse in the dark a mixture of:

  • dry green tea (15 g);
  • sugar (100 g);
  • moonshine (5500 g).

It turns out original.

How to make it with herbs?

Mint

Let's now try the fragrant liqueur - it is prepared with the addition of mint leaves. Recipe for moonshine tincture with mint:

  • 15 mint leaves (dried or fresh);
  • 4 limes;
  • moonshine (bottle);
  • sugar (to taste).

We peel the fruits so that there is no peel left on them, and chop them. Grind the mint and mix with alcohol and sugar.

To enhance the aroma, you can additionally squeeze it into the mixture. juice of one lime. Now cover everything tightly with a lid and put it in a dark place for 3 days. The mint tincture on moonshine will finally “ripen” after it has stood after filtration for another 5 days. Before use, it is filtered again. When used in moderation, the liqueur helps:

  • normalize blood pressure;
  • boost immunity;
  • improve bile secretion.

In addition to mint, horseradish, St. John's wort and barberry are used from herbs and other plants.

  • honey (teaspoon);
  • a couple of tablespoons of freshly squeezed lemon juice.

We insist for a week. Strain twice.

  • St. John's wort herb (90 g);
  • sweet clover (2 g);

St. John's wort tincture is not suitable for feasts. But with its help, many diseases can be treated: cystitis, uncomplicated pyelonephritis, migraine. They drink it three times a day, 50 drops. You can also gargle for pharyngitis and tonsillitis by dissolving the tincture in water.

Barberry

You can also infuse vodka or moonshine with barberry. Both the berries and leaves of the plant are beneficial, so use them in your liqueurs. You can do this: infuse 15 g of leaves per 100 ml of vodka for 2 weeks. Filter, drink 25 drops 3 times a day for 3 weeks or a month. If you use berries, take 20 g of barberry and 100 ml of vodka. Benefits of barberry:

  • normalizes heart rhythm;
  • stimulates the secretion of bile;

You should be more careful with the latter quality of berries if you are over 35 years old: from this age the thickness of the blood begins to increase, so try not to use barberry tincture on your own, without consulting a doctor.

Separate the apple mass from the liquid, add syrup made from sugar, and strain. Let it sit for another week.

If you use moonshine instead of vodka, it will also turn out good, but stronger.

Mix the ingredients in a jar (except sugar) and add alcohol. The mixture is infused for 3 weeks. We check the readiness like this: a bready aroma should appear. If it is clearly felt, then everything has been done correctly.

We filter the future drink through cheesecloth. At this stage, add sugar syrup or honey. Taste and adjust the amount of sugar as you see fit. Borodino tincture is a drink that is not inferior in strength to vodka and is significantly superior to it in taste.

Propolis

Propolis tincture is a healthy drink that is advisable to keep in the house in case of immune problems. Of course, you cannot drink it like Borodino tincture - it is taken in drops. Prepare a tincture from:

  • propolis (80 g);

Secrets for proper preparation

Technologies for quickly preparing moonshine tinctures are not particularly difficult, so even novice moonshiners can use them. If you want an alcoholic drink to be especially tasty and have a bright aroma after a short infusion, you need to know the secrets of its preparation. These include:

Do you make instant tinctures?

  1. The fermentation process will speed up faster if you place the bottle on a sunny windowsill.
  2. Raw materials added to create flavor (spices, herbs or nuts) do not need to be cut too finely. Fine raw materials delay the process of filtering the tincture, which will interfere with quick preparation.
  3. The moonshiner should shake the container with the drink as often as possible, since these actions quickly saturate the liquid with the aroma of spices.
  4. Some of the fastest moonshine infusions are made from anise, lemon and mint. The liquid will acquire a noble aroma within 2-3 days from the day of infusion.
  5. Moonshine tincture requires getting rid of the unpleasant fusel smell, so experienced moonshiners often use double distillation.

Sometimes, before preparing a strong drink, moonshiners want to give the drink a special color. If you learn the additives that give a certain color to a drink, then you can decorate it and delight your guests:

  • the blue tint is achieved with cornflowers;
  • sunflower seeds will give a purple tint;
  • after adding saffron, the tincture will be quite rich and with a yellow tint.

Basic principles for creating berry tincture

An alcoholic drink created in a few days will turn out to be aromatic if it is created in compliance with the principle of preparing drinks with alcohol, as well as berries or herbs. These include the following recommendations:

  • if berries are used as part of the tincture, then the alcohol strength should be higher than with other ingredients, since berries can reduce the alcohol strength by releasing juice;
  • for a herbal drink, it is recommended to choose moonshine, the strength of which is 50%; if it is more than 60%, then you need to add water;
  • if there is a goal to create an alcoholic drink with a caramel flavor, then the berries, for example, cherries, need to be baked a little in the oven before the cooking process;
  • the process of creating berry-based moonshine is recommended to be carried out from frozen raw materials, since it is capable of releasing a larger amount of juice;
  • It is important not to open the lid or taste the drink during infusion, since the taste may be spoiled due to the oxidation process of the drink;
  • infusion must be carried out in an insulated place.

To prepare a high-quality drink, you need the correct sequence of actions and accuracy while observing the preparation conditions.

However, the law does not prohibit the preparation of alcohol for personal use.

In Ukraine and Belarus things are different. Articles No. 176 and No. 177 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses provide for the imposition of fines in the amount of three to ten tax-free minimum wages for the production and storage of moonshine without the purpose of sale, for the storage of devices* for its production without the purpose of sale.

Article 12.43 repeats this information almost word for word. “Production or acquisition of strong alcoholic beverages (moonshine), semi-finished products for their production (mash), storage of apparatus for their production” in the Code of the Republic of Belarus on Administrative Offenses. Clause No. 1 states: “The production by individuals of strong alcoholic drinks (moonshine), semi-finished products for their production (mash), as well as the storage of devices* used for their production, will entail a warning or a fine of up to five basic units with confiscation of the specified drinks, semi-finished products and devices."

*You can still purchase moonshine stills for home use, since their second purpose is to distill water and obtain components for natural cosmetics and perfumes.

A cognac drink based on moonshine “In Latgale” is the most popular alcohol among analogues of well-known brands of cognac. The name of the product comes from the geographical name of the eastern part of Latvia. A culture of distilling has been formed in this area since ancient times, and cognac made from moonshine is considered one of the first discoveries of noble drinks.

Ingredients:

  • moonshine with a strength of 45° – 3 l;
  • sugar – 4 tbsp. l.;
  • cloves - 3 umbrellas;
  • oak bark - 2 tbsp. l. (you can use wood chips);
  • ground nutmeg – 0.5 g;
  • ground coriander – 0.5 gr.

Once you have collected all the ingredients, you can make Latgale-style cognac at home.

Recipe and steps:

  1. Oak bark requires preliminary preparation, regardless of whether it was collected in the forest or purchased at a pharmacy. Pour boiling water over the product and soak for 20 minutes. This will release the tannins that give it a tart aftertaste. At the end of the soaking time, the ingredient should be rinsed with running water and dried slightly.

If the oak bark is not prepared first, the finished drink will have a “baseboard” taste. It will be impossible to get rid of him.

  1. Separate half a glass of alcohol from the total volume, boil it and add sugar. The result should be a syrup that will serve as a caramelizer.
  2. Place oak bark in a glass container, add moonshine, all the spices, and syrup. Close the lid tightly and leave for 2-4 weeks.
  3. After the expiration date, filter the content.

Long-term aging of a cognac drink made from moonshine at home will saturate the product with a pleasant aroma. On average, aging takes from 2 to 6 months, but even longer infusion will only be beneficial.

Whiskey

The recipe for a moonshine drink is not particularly difficult. But in this case, professional distillers use alcohol aged in wood barrels, which can be replaced with wheat alcohol infused with wood. The most difficult step is preparing the wood. Regular oak bark or shavings will not work here; you need solid oak blocks.

What you will need:

  • thin oak logs – 200 g;
  • soda – 2 tbsp. l.;
  • alcohol 45° strength – 2 l;
  • water – 10 l;
  • sugar – 2 tbsp. l.

How to make whiskey from moonshine:

  1. Cut small pegs from the beams with a length of 2/3 of the height of the tank and a diameter of 30 mm. For a day, place the raw materials in water, which will need to be changed more than 4 times during this period.
  2. Place the bars in a soda solution for 5 hours. Next, boil the wood in drinking water for 1.5 hours, rinse under running water and dry. Wrap each peg in foil, place on a baking sheet and place in the oven. “Bake” for 2.5 hours at the required temperature:
  • 150° – such wood chips will give the whiskey an oak smell;
  • 200° – moonshine will receive notes of vanilla;
  • 250° – the alcohol acquires a pronounced almond aroma.
  1. The last preparatory stage for wood is processing over an open fire until it darkens brown.
  2. Place the pegs in a glass container, add moonshine and granulated sugar. Here you need to completely fill the container so that there is a minimum amount of oxygen in it.
  3. Leave for 4 months in a dark place. The longer the aging, the richer the product will be.
  4. Strain the contents.

It is advisable to filter in 2 stages - through a cotton-charcoal filter and a gauze filter. You can use a charcoal column, but then some of the aroma will be lost.

The most popular attribute of pirate activity has become an inspiration for the imagination of experienced moonshiners. Thanks to the ingenuity of distillers, rum can be made at home. Of course, this alcohol has strong differences from natural alcohol and is more like an imitation. But if, after cooking, you make it into a low-alcohol product with Coca-Cola or Sprite, then this option is no worse.

Ingredients:

  • diluted moonshine with a strength of 45° - 2 l;
  • sugar – 2 tbsp. l.;
  • vanilla granulated sugar – 1 gr.;
  • oak bark - 1 tbsp. l.;
  • natural ground coffee – 1 gr.

How to make rum at home:

  1. Prepare the oak bark as required when making cognac. Pour boiling water over it for 20 minutes.
  2. Fry the granulated sugar to create caramel. Immediately dissolve it in alcohol before the crystallization process begins.
  3. Mix all the ingredients, except the bark, in a glass container and place in a dark place at room temperature to infuse for two weeks. Stir the contents every day.
  4. Filter the product through cheesecloth, add bark to it, and let it steep again for at least 3 months. Here, as in other recipes, the maximum duration of exposure will only benefit.

The popular “cactus vodka” in Mexico can be made without the tropical agave plant. Almost every apartment has its “relative”, which is quite similar in composition - aloe vera.

What you need to make tequila:

  • moonshine with a strength of 45-50° – 2 l;
  • fresh aloe vera plant – 100 g;
  • sugar – 4 tbsp. l.

The simple recipe requires the following steps:

  1. Take aloe vera leaves, wash them thoroughly and trim the spines. Cut the plant into large slices.
  2. Pour granulated sugar into a glass container, pour in moonshine, stir.
  3. Add the chopped plant to the “raw” product and place it in a cool place for 4-5 weeks.

It is very interesting to watch how the content changes color. Initially it will be rich green, but over time the hue will acquire a golden tone. To make the tequila clean and transparent, at the end of the infusion it can be placed in direct sunlight for 2-4 days. Strained alcohol requires long-term storage.

Tinctures are the main type of drinks in which moonshine is the leader in every sense. This alcohol can be used to infuse almost anything that has taste and aromatic qualities - herbs, berries, spices, citruses. One of these legendary strong drinks is the Czech Becherovka. The whole difficulty of preparing the product at home lies in the correct selection of herbs and their proportions.

What is needed for production:

  • moonshine 50° – 2 l;
  • ground cinnamon – 8 g;
  • anise – 4 g;
  • orange peel – 3 g;
  • sugar – 230 gr.;
  • clove buds – 27-29 pcs.;
  • drinking water – 270 ml;
  • peppercorns (black) – 11 pcs.;
  • cardamom – 1.7 g.

Manufacturing stages:

  1. It is recommended to use the first freshness of herbs, and not dried pharmaceutical ones. This is justified by the fact that ingredients ground to a powder state are not able to saturate the drink with the desired aromas. In addition, such a product will contribute to the formation of sediment, which will be difficult to remove.
  2. Peel the orange peel from the white inside and cut into large pieces.
  3. Mix all herbs and spices in a container for infusion, pour in moonshine. Next, send the product to the first stage of aging, which lasts 7 days.

The composition is filtered and diluted with sugar syrup. The moonshine is tightly closed with a lid, after which it is sent for another week of aging.

There are a lot of recipes for medicinal tincture of wormwood; they differ in the concentration of the composition and the number of ingredients. Let's give a classic recipe called “Muse of Poets”.

You will need:

  • moonshine 50° - 3 liters;
  • wormwood – 600 gr.;
  • anise – 150 gr.;
  • fennel – 150 gr.;
  • freshly picked mint and lemon balm leaves - 45 g each;
  • thyme – 15 gr.;
  • dried St. John's wort – 15 gr.

How to cook:

  1. Pour wormwood, fennel and anise into a container and fill with distillate. Leave for 7-9 days in a cool, dark place. During this time, the bottle is not touched.
  2. After 1-1.5 weeks, the drink is filtered, diluted with water to a strength of 45° and sent for distillation.
  3. The leaves of mint and lemon balm are torn into small pieces, St. John's wort and thyme are ground, and the whole thing is poured with distillate.
  4. After 10-12 hours, filter through gauze and a cotton-carbon filter and dilute with water to the desired degree.

You can keep the drink on open shelves - the more it is exposed to sunlight, the sooner it will age. The aging process means a transition from green to yellow. It is yellow absinthe that is considered the peak of mastery.

In previous articles, we talked in detail about the preparation of mash, its clarification, distillation and purification of moonshine. Now we get to the most interesting part - preparing various delicious drinks. Not everyone likes the smell of pure alcohol or moonshine. You need to enjoy the taste and aroma of the drink and get real pleasure from it. You can cook a variety of different ones. This can be an imitation of cognac, whiskey, rum, or tequila. The main thing is to choose the right ingredients. In this article you will find the most successful recipes with the exact dosage of additives and cooking technology.

Latgale cognac

Latgalian came to us from the historical region of Latvia. It was there that this world famous drink was invented. This is the most best cognac recipe from moonshine which can be found. Although it is prepared in just a couple of weeks, it is almost identical in taste, color, and aroma to expensive cognacs. There is no shame in serving such a drink to guests. To prepare three liters of cognac you will need the simplest ingredients:

  • 2 tbsp. l. oak bark (you can get it in the forest or buy it at a pharmacy)
  • 3 tbsp. l. Sahara
  • On the tip of a knife, ground coriander.
  • 3 buds.
  • 0.5 gr. ground nutmeg

Now let’s move on directly to the technology for preparing cognac:

It reveals its taste gradually, so it is not recommended to consume it immediately. Let it sit in a dark, cool place for a couple of weeks, or better yet, months - then you will appreciate its taste.

Cognac with prunes

Using this recipe you will get a very soft drink, reminiscent of Armenian cognacs in taste. One can note a very balanced taste, an amazing aroma of prunes with spicy notes. First, try making a small batch of 500 ml of moonshine to make sure you like it. For this amount of moonshine take:

  • 5 prunes with pits (choose the most fragrant).
  • 1 tsp. granulated sugar.
  • 3 allspice peas.
  • On the tip of a knife.
  • 1 bud.

If you remove the spices, leaving only prunes, you will not get cognac, but also a very worthy drink like slivyanka.

  1. Place chopped spices and pre-washed prunes in a liter jar.
  2. Pour the specified amount of moonshine into it, add vanillin and sugar.
  3. Close the jar with a tight lid, shake well and put it in a dark place.
  4. Leave for 10 days, shaking the contents of the jar periodically.
  5. After 10 days, filter through several layers of gauze or cotton wool so that the drink is completely clear. Pour into bottles and store.

Only three days are enough for the taste to stabilize, but if you keep it longer, the taste will be much higher.

Whiskey

Most people won't be able to tell the difference from the real thing. This is a more complex recipe, but if you love this drink, then your efforts will be completely worth it. It is prepared on oak chips prepared in a special way. To get two liters of an excellent drink you need to get:

  • 150 gr. oak pegs.
  • 2 tbsp. granulated sugar.
  • 1 tbsp. soda
  • 10 liters of water.

Don't be alarmed by the composition - we will need some ingredients exclusively for preparing the wood. That's where we'll start.

  1. Chop dry oak wood into sticks. The optimal size is length up to 10 cm, cut 2x2 cm.
  2. Place them in cold water, changing it up to four times a day. You need to soak for 24 hours.
  3. Prepare a soda solution - dissolve the specified amount of soda in five liters of water. Place the cubes in it and leave for 6 hours.
  4. Remove the wood from the solution, rinse it very thoroughly, put it in a saucepan, pour water into it and boil for 45 minutes over low heat.
  5. Pour out the water and rinse the wood again.
  6. The processing is not yet complete - now they need to be kept in the sun for 24 hours, then wrapped in several layers of foil and kept in the oven for two hours at a temperature of 150C.
  7. The last stage is to lightly char each block over the fire.

After all this torment, you can proceed directly to preparing the drink, which is much easier and more enjoyable.

  1. Place the prepared cubes in a jar, add the specified amount of sugar and fill with moonshine up to the neck.
  2. Place in a cool, dark place and take a sample every two weeks. The rate at which the drink matures depends on the quality of the oak and your taste preferences. The optimal result is achieved after 3-7 months.

As a result you get moonshine drink, which in its qualities is in no way inferior to most whiskeys available in stores.

Rum

- also a worthy recipe. Of course, it will not be real, since cane sugar is used for the original, but the taste will not suffer from this. None of your friends will even guess that they are drinking not real rum, but its imitation from moonshine. To get a liter of rum you will need:

  • 200 gr. granulated sugar
  • 500 ml. water
  • 50 ml rum, 10 ml each pineapple and vanilla essence (they can be found in online stores)
  • 4 teaspoons of burnt sugar.

And now the cooking technology:

  1. Mix water and sugar in a saucepan and put it on fire. You need to heat until completely dissolved, then turn off and add burnt sugar.
  2. While the syrup is cooling, mix moonshine and essence in a separate container.
  3. After the syrup has cooled completely, mix it with flavored moonshine.
  4. Pour into bottles and store in a dark place for a month.

The result is a drink that is balanced in taste and has a pleasant color. Rum lovers will definitely love it.

Absinthe

This is a drink for everyone, but some should be interested in its preparation, since it is not cheap in stores and, in fact, is not real absinthe. Therefore, it turns out even better than store-bought. For a liter of moonshine 45 degrees you need to take:

  • 30 gr. bitter wormwood.
  • 25 gr. seeds and anise.
  • 10 gr. and lemon balm.
  • Half a liter of water.

There are subtleties in preparing the drink:

  1. Pour 2/3 of the herbs and seeds with moonshine and leave to infuse for a week in a cool, dark place.
  2. Add water, mix well and pour into the moonshine still. Yes, this is one of the few recipes that requires another distillation. Remove the steamer from the apparatus immediately, as we need to obtain the maximum amount of aromatic substances. We distill in the traditional way.
  3. After distillation, you will receive an aromatic but clear drink. This is not suitable for us, since absinthe is green. Therefore, we chop the remaining herbs and spices well and pour them into a container with a drink. Place the container in warm water for literally 3 minutes. This is enough for absinthe to acquire its characteristic color.
  4. Filter the drink through several layers of gauze, pour into dark glass bottles and store in a cool place for several days.

Tequila

Many people have not even tried the famous drink “tequila”, which is usually drunk with lemon and salt, since its price in stores is, to put it mildly, prohibitive. But there is a recipe by which you can make tequila that tastes close to the original. And for this you need a plant that everyone knows without exception - aloe. Yes, it is prepared on the basis of this plant. For three liters of alcohol you need to take only 3 tsp. granulated sugar and 150 gr. aloe leaves The cooking technology is also extremely simple.

  1. We cut the leaves into small pieces, put them in a jar and fill them with moonshine.
  2. Sugar is added immediately to soften the taste.
  3. Close with a tight lid, shake well and put away in a cool place for 2-3 weeks. During this time, you may notice that the drink will first acquire a greenish color, which will then change to a pleasant golden hue.
  4. If you want the drink to be absolutely transparent, then simply after filtering, place it in a sunny place for 20 days.

Becherovka

The famous Czech drink is produced in only one place, and its recipe is kept in the strictest confidence. The only thing that can be said about the real recipe is that the drink contains about 20 herbs that grow only in Karlovy Vary. However Becherovka from moonshine tastes as close as possible to the real drink. For a liter of moonshine you need to take:

  • 150 gr. granulated sugar.
  • A quarter liter of water.
  • 2 tsp. orange zest (fresh)
  • 2 pieces of cardamom.
  • 10 things
  • 8 black peppercorns
  • Half a teaspoon of anise.
  • 1 small cinnamon stick.

Preparation:

These wonderful ones can be prepared at home with minimal cost. There are many more wonderful recipes, some created unexpectedly through experimentation. Over time, you will learn to combine ingredients to achieve exactly the taste you like. But first you need to master the preparation of mash and its distillation.
