Last weekend, the universe, in the person of my friend, gave my family and I a trip to a cultural event - the Little Prince show at the Aquamarine Theater, also known as the Circus of Miracles.
Fortunately, it’s not far, the information on the website says that the show is 0+, a ticket is not needed for people under 3 years old - everything worked out, we all went together)
Where does it take place?
Chirk of Miracles, aka the Aquamarine Theater, aka the Ivanhoe Company - it's all about the organizers. You can search for anything. There are several venues. The Little Prince is now, in the summer of 2018, showing in Kuntsevo, in the former Kuntsevo cinema. The hall is located a 5-minute walk from the Kuntsevskaya metro station.

Duration
2.5 hours including 30 minutes break. I’ll say right away - for the 0+ marking this is great, the kids, of course, had fun, but in the end it was a bit difficult - everyone was tired. In addition, we went to the show, which began according to plan at 17.30, but in fact a little later, and ended around 20.40. It’s a little late for kids, so if you go with very young children, it’s worth keeping this in mind.
About the theater
Ohoho, mixed feelings. On the one hand, it seems nice - photo zones, they sell ice cream, popcorn and cotton wool, you can take pictures with animals, there even seemed to be an animator before the start, but we arrived almost right next to each other, and when we entered, we were no longer in the foyer.
And at the same time, the feeling of that Soviet past is subtly in the air. I wasn’t at the Kuntsevo cinema in Soviet times, I just went down the slides near it, but it seems like the inside has changed a little...
At the same time, the hall is not very large, well, like in all not very large cinemas, those who have been there remember) The chairs are good, new, comfortable. There are pillows that can be placed under babies - a very convenient option, my daughter sat through the entire performance in comfort. Music, lights - everything works well, the equipment seems to be all new too.
About the performance
The photos turned out not just bad, but disgusting - blurry and dark. So I’ll just add a couple and write the rest.
We watched from the very center of the hall, row 12, and seats in the middle.
The performance began promisingly for me - a plane came onto the stage, the pilot of which, apparently Antoine himself, sang the Time Machine song about where the southern edge of the Earth is located.
To my shame, I didn’t read the book, so I knew nothing about the plot - only phrases from The Little Prince about an elephant that was swallowed by a boa constrictor, we are responsible for those we have tamed, and about getting up - take away your planet.
In general, this performance is a production based on motives, and not a direct accurate representation of the work. Well, of course, you still need to include songs and tricks here. So now I have a very general picture in my head, I’ll read it (probably even with my daughter right away), so that I get a complete picture, fortunately, anyway, I recently came across the book in a fixed price and bought it right away)
I won’t retell the whole plot, I’ll go through the moments that I liked, and those that weren’t so much - from them it will be clear what kind of show it is.
So what I LIKED
Really 0+, despite the literary component - children, of course, don’t really perceive it, but on the whole they watch the show with their mouths open
Interactive - during the course of the performance, the actors actively invite the audience to participate, ask questions, offer activities, and even invited the audience onto the stage several times. Once they launched it into the hall of the planet, turning it into space))
There are many and quite varied acts - acrobats (of which the majority are), and a juggler, and animal trainers (ferrets, dogs, roosters, pigeons, a donkey, a monkey and even a bear). I don’t even know who reacted more strongly to the animals - the children or me, so that they would look at them. On the one hand, of course, it’s a pity for the animals in the circus, on the other hand, I remember Du Soleil, where there are no animals - and it’s not at all childish, otherwise children wouldn’t watch it. On the other hand, I still hope that trainers are people who care about their pets.
Sand painting is a special delight. As the show progressed, the girl drew what was on stage. Well, what happened... Not exactly exactly, but if there was a Fox - a picture with a Fox
When the King ruled the roost, I drew a sort of Jester King, and he looked a little like a clown.
And towards the end, when we are actually in charge, the Fox and the Prince are together
At the end, the girl also draws with light, very beautifully. I liked it, I was thinking about a device for this kind of drawing for home
They sing live, generally not bad, although there are some flaws in their performance.
Interesting light accompaniment - color, light, rays, planes. Caught with children)
A good fairy tale, you can talk with your children afterwards about responsibility, friendship, and much more. We are very tired, we will talk after we read)
What I didn't like very much
In several rooms the lighting is very bright and aggressive, the colors change very quickly and the rays shine brightly, it was not very pleasant even for me, an adult, the children were also not very comfortable
The music used in the musical is all from somewhere. Still, if a musical with music specially written for it is perceived as a whole something, but here - “A Whole New World” and the waltz from the cartoon Anastasia - this is what I definitely identified, and the Time Machine at the beginning. All this creates a feeling of a skit
Some numbers also support this feeling, of course the actors are great, both adults and children, and yet this is clearly not a musical theater, nor Nikulin’s circus, but on a simpler level
Some numbers are long, and the children were not very interested - the daughter looked at the juggler sadly and said, “I want him to leave soon...”
I didn’t like one number - the King played with the children... with thimbles O_O Of course, not directly with thimbles, but with nesting dolls, but the meaning is the same. Overall, it surprised me. Although I understand that this is a trick, a visual one, which can be seen from afar, and yet - thimbles?..
Overall, I'm very pleased with the performance. Taking into account the fact that the cost of tickets is from 450 rubles, you can also buy them at a discount on the theater’s website, there are promotions and points are accumulated for activities, which can also be used to pay for tickets - I think that we will go to another performance, fortunately there are more than one of them in the repertoire.
The Little Prince circus show is interesting, bright, exciting, if the above points do not bother you, I recommend visiting it!
Background.(Maybe more for myself.)
For me, it all started with Aquamarine, which was still in Izmailovo at that time. I went there with my husband, already pregnant with Ira. It was a complete delight, which continues to this day from the performances of Aquamarine. The second time I was with Ira, she was about 2.8 then. “Aquamarine” has already moved to the notorious center on Dubrovka, where it is located now. Then the Ivanhoe spectator club appeared, which made it possible to accumulate points and spend them on a discount. So we got to Aquamarine again when my daughter was 3.2.

The next was the musical “Treasure Island” at the then Aquamarine Theater, but in Kuntsevo. Ira 4.1.

“The Ballad of a Little Heart” has already been presented by the Ivanhoe theater company in Izmailovo. “Aquamarine”, in my opinion, was still part of this company at that time. My daughter was 4.7.

But when we went to the show “Dreams that change the world”, also in Kuntsevo, he had already turned from “Aquamarine” into “Ivanhoe”. My daughter was 5.3

“Aquamarine” no longer belonged to “Ivanhoe” and it became impossible to spend spectator points for a discount at “Aquamarine”. Now there are no discounts at Aquamarine.
For most, all these changes went unnoticed. But for me there was a residue. Moreover, “Aquamarine” remained for me the best show of all that was presented by the “Ivanhoe” company, which was based on it.
Nevertheless, we were also at “Carlson, who lives on the roof” in Izmailovo, also from the Ivanhoe company. Ira was 5.6.

And today we went to the Circus of Miracles show “The Little Prince”. The discount won me over.
In the foyer you could ride a horse, which Ira had already done there once. But we only managed to buy tokens and went to the hall.
There were projections of airplanes on the curtain.
There were also screens with sand drawings, some of which copied drawings by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry.
When I bought tickets to this performance, I wanted to buy a book so that I could already be up to date with events. But at first I couldn’t understand why all the books had the same drawings, until I found out that these were drawings by the author. I never bought the book. But in order for Ira to understand this performance more clearly, we went to a performance of the same name in Nizhny Novgorod, which I still can’t write about. The author's drawings were also used there.
The story about the little prince has always been somewhat strange for me. It turns out Antoine de Saint-Exupéry wrote it for an adult.
But its creators made the circus show for children. Moreover, in their opinion, there is a child in every adult. And for it to appear, you just need to smile or laugh.

How to get there: Circus of Miracles is located very close to the Kuntsevskaya metro station (it’s only three stops from the center on the new high-speed metro line), 1st car from the center.
