We did not include “Crysis” and other well-known projects that were released ten years ago in the selection, because in this case it would have to be made several times more. We hope you found something cool in this list of alien games.

At the end of the 19th century, people first thought that our brothers in mind could live on distant planets, who, if we met them, might not be friendly at all. More than a century has passed since then, and during this time the Earth has experienced hundreds of alien invasions.

Games where the Earth or other planets become a battlefield with extraterrestrial civilizations appear regularly. In games about space, foreign enemies always appear, trying to ruin everything. We are, of course, talking about extraterrestrials, newcomers, or, simply put, strangers. Our today's TOP is dedicated to them.

Alien-related games can generally be divided into two groups. In them, either we ourselves go into space and to distant worlds, where we are met by local life forms that are usually unfriendly, or we sit quietly at home, and suddenly bam - a flotilla of unknown spaceships lands, after which we, along with all of humanity, are quickly attacked exterminate.

If we talk about aliens, then many different shooters immediately come to mind - all kinds "Anrialov" and others "Crises". But our top ten includes only the best of them.

10. Contra

The first truly large-scale and lasting invasion of aliens began in 1987, when the first Contra was released on arcade machines, which later moved to many home platforms.

However, initially the players did not even suspect that they would repel an alien invasion. The first 7 levels we fought with the terrorist organization Red Falcon. And only after dealing with its militants did they learn that they were just puppets in the hands of an alien intelligence. It turned out that the Red Falcon himself looked like a terrible giant brain.

In the second part of the legendary series, the Red Falcon struck back. This time he subjugated the military base and everyone who served there. The hero had to fight against his own former comrades. in addition to numerous alien creatures.

Only after the Red Falcon's third attempt to conquer the planet was he finished.

9. Crisis

For thousands of years, the alien creatures Cephs slept in the bowels of the Earth until they were awakened by people. Having discovered traces of other people's technologies, they immediately began hunting for them, which is what they paid for.

Having awakened, the Cephs, without unnecessary sentimentality, began a war against earthlings. Despite all the achievements of science, humanity had little chance of surviving against such an enemy. Not only did they possess technologies that were far ahead of those on Earth, but they could also perfectly adapt to different conditions. It took them a few years to create an artificial virus that would be fatal to humans, and powerful armor that turned cephalopod aliens into real death machines.

But the Cephs themselves unwittingly gave the earthlings the means to repel the invasion. Thanks to a nanosuit created on the basis of alien technology, a single person was able to challenge an entire army of aliens. And what came of it, you can find out for yourself from the game.

8. Fable

Alien invasions are usually unexpected. Rare exceptions include an attack by aliens from the Fable universe. The war between their race and humanity began in 2525, when the number of planets inhabited by people was in the dozens.

From the very first days of the conflict, the advantage was in favor of the aliens. Despite some setbacks, in 27 years they managed to capture or destroy almost all of the earth's colonies. Once the government realized the scale of the disaster, strict security measures were taken to keep the Earth's coordinates secret. And yet, in 2552, aliens managed to recognize them. They began to prepare a strike to seize the last ancestral abode of people. But people did not sit idly by, preparing for the last - the most important battle. Well, you will find out who wins in the game.

7. Lost Planet

One of the most popular series about distant lost planets.

The first and second parts are nothing more than operational action with huge beetles. But the third part - on the contrary - pleased with a high-quality single. The game is completely focused only on single playthrough with an interesting plot and a chic atmosphere and large robots.

Lost Planet is definitely worth playing, although there is a slight déjà vu with Dead Space 3.

6. Dead Space

The entire series is worthy of this position. Even if the third part is nothing more than a tactical shooter for co-op play, it’s still not that bad.

The best game in the series, perhaps, can be called the first part, in which we had to explore a huge ship, through fear and the need to save every bullet. Aliens in Dead Space They are very reminiscent of something - they are bloody-meat-colored, shapeless and terrible. They have a lot of limbs, which are especially fun to cut off with engineering cutters and other gadgets.

Everything in the first two parts of the series is done seamlessly and harmoniously - the atmosphere, fear, plot and gameplay. However, the third part, alas, slipped into a simple cooperative shooter at bugs. In general, the atmosphere and content of the game is very reminiscent of the movie Alien.

5.Beyond Good & Evill

In this game, aliens do not play a special role, but it is still a wonderful story about an ordinary girl, Jane, who almost single-handedly saves the planet from evil aliens.

The good and peaceful inhabitants of the planet Hilis were attacked by aliens. The fighters of the Alpha complex stood up to defend the planet, but it turned out that they were of no use, and the main character has to find out why.

Besides Jane's basic abilities, her main weapon is information. She climbs into the most inaccessible corners of the planet, takes photographs of various things and sends them to all news screens in the city.

There is a beautiful world, a twisted plot, interesting gameplay, and a lot of all sorts of complications.

4. XCOM: Enemy Unknown

Probably the most classic series of games about an alien invasion. The last part of the series was released in 2013. - an excellent game with a tactical touch and a good plot.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown is a remake of the first part, released back in 1994. This project not only did not lose all the charm of the original, but in some ways even improved it. Thanks to much cooler graphics, it's much easier for modern gamers to embrace.

Although, nothing much has changed - there are two gameplays. In the first, we study the situation on a global map and catch flying saucers. There is also a base here that can be built up and developed, and this is very interesting. Well, when we find a detachment of aliens, we go straight to the mission on the tactical map. This is where turn-based tactics and fighter specialization come into play. Each person has two methods of action, for example, throwing a grenade or shooting.

Read more about the 2016 XCOM 2 strategy in our review.

3. Warframe

One of the few online shooters about aliens that provides a level of graphics comparable to, and in some ways even higher than, regular offline games.

So, we play as one of the many Tenno warriors, who are a futuristic variation of the ninja, who, in addition to armored exoskeletons and katanas, have a whole bunch of all kinds of guns in their arsenal, from quite simple machine guns to incredible looking turrets.

Your opponents in the game are a whole bunch of alien races. There are a lot of their representatives, but killing them is a pleasure, because your exoskeleton allows you to withstand a lot.

Warframe is a cooperative game, that is, you can play with two or three friends or random players, going through one mission after another on a variety of planets and their satellites. The game captivates with its dynamics and tons of opportunities for collecting and upgrading your own warframes.

The game is free, all the details about it, as well as the download link, can be found in our Warframe review.

2.Half Life 2

If in the first part the player had partners for the first time, then in the second, released in 2004, we generally saw a new word in shooters - first-class graphics, chic design, a continuous plot without division into missions, an excellent story, varied gameplay.. In general, this game cost 40 million dollars, which is simply unrealistic money for its time.

After the incident in the first Halfe All sorts of anomalies began to happen on earth, after which the well-known alliance came here - some kind of cool organization that enslaves everyone, controls and all that. In general, we have to survive in a world of total dictatorship, where alliance soldiers walk around the city, and all sorts of military robots patrol the sky.

As usual, it is up to us, in the person of Gordan Freeman, together with the resistance groups, to return everything to its place.

In addition to the excellent plot, design, atmosphere, Half Life 2 There is one notable difference - this is a completely complex cinematic shooting gallery, like in Kolda. The game has just a lot of varied gameplay. There are the usual shootouts and stealth, and a little horror, and entertainment with a gravity gun, there are even vehicle chases.

In short, if you have never played Half Life 2, consider that you haven't played any games on PC at all.

1.Mass Effect 2

Perhaps this is the only universe where such a fantastic diversity of races and nations is represented. One gets the feeling that the game developers actually visited some other world, and then they just told us all this, though in a harsher and more realistic way than any Star Wars.

If people do go into space, then probably what they see will not be much different from Mass Effect- a huge number of races that were falling apart in their small worlds and were so different from each other.

So much has happened in this cosmic world that it is even difficult to list all the intricacies of relationships - some love others, but cannot stand others, others dream of destroying everyone, and others rush around in their spaceships from system to system.

So, Mass Effect- in first place in the TOP of the best games about aliens.

On Prey (2017), and you will most likely agree that it is difficult to find a more common gaming theme than “aliens.” These creatures often appear in the role of both protagonists and antagonists. And we will pay tribute by mentioning cult series, like Aliens vs Predator, StarCraft, XCOM, Final Fantasy, Contra And Destroy All Humans! because none of them had a chance to be in the top "Top Ten Games About Aliens" from the portal SIMHOST.

Perhaps not the longest story telling about aliens, but nevertheless, Lost Planet: Extreme Condition quite a strong project. The main character must be thoroughly armed and prepared for the extermination of giant aliens, simultaneously surviving in harsh climatic conditions.

The game goes through quickly, so you don’t have time to get bored, but making a boom in the process of destroying massive creatures is always welcome. It's a shame that the sequels didn't live up to either the spirit or the bar set by the first one. "Lost Planet", however, regardless of heritage, Extreme Condition– an exciting and challenging shooter with a well-developed plot.

The year is 2020. We are in the midst of a devastating alien invasion, and we must fight our way through hundreds of Ceph and humans in one of the most technologically advanced first-person action games ever made.

With huge locations to explore, a wide variety of tactical options and an amazing sense of presence, Crysis managed to attract the attention of hundreds of thousands of gamers to an interesting story and simply an excellent shooter. The game gathered enough of a fan base for us to get sequels, but it was the first part that made a revolution in many ways.

Terrible explosions. Guts scattered everywhere. People running in terror. This is roughly what the invasion of locusts looked like - aliens who attacked the Earth... from underground. These creatures brought monstrous destruction to the planet, which Epic Games perfectly depicted in depressing gray colors. The first game in the series created a real sensation in what third-person shooters could look like, setting the fashion for cover with the final abandonment of first aid kits in favor of dynamism.

But it was the second part that opened up in terms of scenarios, scale and included the best attractions that the series was just beginning to dabble in Call Of Duty, without slipping into a banal “ka-boom”, but developing the universe and revealing the drama of the acting characters. Even Gears Of War 3 it only tried to seem like an epic conclusion to the trilogy, but it no longer evoked the same sensations.

Metroid Prime can be considered the best sci-fi game in the history of publishing Nintendo and its consoles GameCube. Remarkable Prime became due to the emergence of a completely new approach to the formula based on previous projects of the franchise, however, it was still just the good old Metroid.

The narrative in this game is unique - gamers need to scan the environment using Samus Aran's visor, revealing piece by piece information about the universe and what is happening. And although not everyone may have appreciated this aspect of the game, there certainly was no one left indifferent in the face of the threat in the form of space pirates. And the exploration of the beautiful and at the same time harsh worlds of Aliens is something amazing, but this Metroid, how else?

In Michel Ancel's legendary project, aliens do not play a major role. This story is about a simple girl, Jane, who almost single-handedly saves the planet Hylis from an extraterrestrial aggressor. The Alpha soldiers came to the defense, but they turned out to be practically useless, but we have to find out why. Besides Jane's physical attributes, her main weapon is information.

The heroine sneaks into inaccessible places on the planet, takes photos and shares the material on city news screens. Beyond Good & Evill incorporates a swashbuckling story, entertaining gameplay and plenty of twists into an enjoyable gameplay, becoming a cult favorite in many circles, which is why we're still hoping for a sequel.
Main system seller Microsoft and one of the franchises that, over the many years of its existence, has shown itself from a variety of angles - from its first attempt at revolutionizing the console shooter genre to the epic scale of the universe, which has grown into a separate culture. Halo 3 can rightfully be considered the most high-profile game in the series, which led to success Xbox 360. Of course: the forerunners, the prophets, the Flood, the Covenant - everyone fights with people and among themselves in interplanetary battles, and all this in a fascinating ornate plot.

We are constantly at the epicenter of events, driving and flying all the time, destroying aliens in a critically short time, so as not to lose in this war. Every second you have to, literally with your teeth, tear out another piece of a strategically important area. We feel all the responsibility on ourselves and a literal sense of saving humanity... once again. Halo 3- the highest point of the series, where battles with aliens really go to the death.

Original Dead Space managed to brilliantly combine sci-fi surroundings and horror gameplay. The first meeting with the necromorphs (and the subsequent escape from them) can still be reproduced frame-by-frame in your head. They are so creepy that they are, in a way, zombie aliens, only several times deadlier than those in any other horror film, and a locked room with these creepy creatures will more than recreate the atmosphere of panic panic.

Not to say that the plot here is of some book-like proportions, but the story keeps you in suspense and the desire to find answers until the credits. The second game got into the plot, almost ceasing to frighten, but the third... And since Dead Space was so unique in its genre, then without a doubt, it is the first part that deserves the greatest admiration as one of the best games about aliens.

If the previous game doesn't seem lonely enough to you in terms of widespread hostility towards the main character, then the new action game from Arkane Studios will demonstrate exactly what it's like to be surrounded by alien substance. Yes, yes, typhons are capable of appearing in a variety of guises - from a Horror several meters tall, pursuing the main character who is carried away by pumping up extraterrestrial skills, to half-meter-long mimics that cleverly disguise themselves as objects, creating the effect of a terrible surprise.

We have already written about all the advantages of this project and do not think that there is any point in repeating about the versatility and quality Prey (2017), so it’s just third place.
Original Half-Life It didn't exactly tell a unique story, but it definitely framed it in a pleasant way. The game had a standard scenario about alien creatures, but the gameplay in 1998 became a model for future generations of first-person shooters. And six years later Valve consolidated their success with the second part.

They created a legacy that lives on to this day, despite the lack of a third game. Gamers continue to discuss how surreal the environment and enemies are, the twists and turns of the plot, as well as being inspired by entire remakes and big mods. Half-Life 2 still looks great and is one of the most exciting rides from the world of games, for which it deservedly receives silver in today's top.

Many fans of the series are still arguing about which part Mass Effect the best - debut or second, because the sequel BioWare took the best from its successful predecessor, recovered from its ills, improved every aspect of the game - from the combat system to the narrative part and the environment. However, we are adherents of the original Mass Effect as the very best. When you first find yourself in the world there, you realize that this is an amazing, one and only universe, inspired by the best in the person of Star Wars And Star Trek, where some unimaginable diversity of races is represented.

It feels like BioWare made a trip to another galaxy, and then transferred everything into the game, only tougher and more realistic than in the same S.W. And ST. Passing Mass Effect, do you believe that if humanity ever flies to conquer space, the picture will not be much different from what was seen in the first M.E.- many races developing in their own small worlds, and so different both in appearance and in principles. Some love the second, but cannot stand the third, the fourth dream of exterminating everyone, and the fifth roam the systems in starships. The standard of space games, inviting gamers into its world, Mass Effect contains interesting creatures, futuristic... everything and a touching story. And from then on BioWare We have lost our powder in our flasks, and many have already left the former team, but we will remember and love Mass Effect with all my heart. Thanks to video games and their developers for making such wonderful projects possible.

In the material: Lost Planet: Extreme Condition, Crysis, Mass Effect, Gears Of War 2, Half-Life 2, Prey (2017), Dead Space, Metroid Prime, Beyond Good & Evill, Halo 3

Earth civilization, with the help of X-COM soldiers, repelled the alien attack and was able to destroy the enemy base on Mars. But unnoticed by everyone, a strange signal was sent to Earth by the aliens. This ominous signal passed through the planet's atmosphere and rushed into the blue ocean. Many years later, the news began to say that inexplicably, ships began to disappear more and more often in coastal waters and distant seas. A certain force woke up from a long sleep in the deep waters of the ocean. Now the war will have to be waged not in the air and on the ground, but on the bottom of the sea, passenger ships and coastal zones. Technologies from the times of the first confrontation are no longer relevant. We will have to build bases under water and conduct naval defense. Submarines will replace our fighters, and sailors and scuba divers will become soldiers in this new war.
