On May 18, museum workers all over the planet celebrate their professional holiday. International Museum Day(International Museum Day) appeared on the calendar in 1977, when at the next meeting of ICOM (International Council of Museums) the Russian organization’s proposal to establish this holiday was adopted. And since 1978, this day has been celebrated annually in more than 150 countries.
On this day, museums open their doors to everyone, completely free of charge and happily showing their exhibition halls, new exhibits, telling, educating and working in the spirit of the motto “Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace different peoples."
