Water is the basis of life on our planet. However, its pollution and irrational use lead to disastrous consequences for the people themselves. During games and explorations, the participants tried to convey to the kids not only the physical properties of water, but also its value for humans, animals and plants. And to consolidate their knowledge, they made a variety of crafts, posters and homemade books on the topic “Save water!”

The book is a drop of “Where does water live?”

The idea arose from a question from my middle son Artemy (2.9 years old), where does water live? Conducted social a survey among our many children and the result was a book like this - just a drop. We needed:

  1. Blue paper;
  2. Blue velvet paper for the cover;
  3. Brushes, paints, pencils, markers, glue, scissors;
  4. Thread or tape for fixation.

We cut out the pages of the future book in the shape of a drop of water. On each side we make a drawing answering the question where water lives. Then we make a hole in the top of the drop with a hole punch, write text on the pictures and fasten it with thread or tape.

Our text was like this:

Where does water live?
In the well by the yard,
In the drops of rain,
in my aquarium,
And even underground.
We have water in you.
In animals and in the river.
And at cosmic altitude.
In the tree and in the flower.
Save water everyone!

The cover can be designed, but we decided to leave it simply velvet blue, like the sea (this is Timofey’s definition). The illustrations for the book were drawn by my niece Lisa (11 years old).

The main idea was that our planet should not be without water.

Yana did everything herself when I told her about the task: she came up with it, drew it, and signed it. I tried to suggest something, correct something, but she did not accept my ideas, so it turned out to be 100% children's creativity. My older brother and I sat down to draw and did everything quickly.

Each page of the book shows incorrect behavior at the beginning, and by peeling back part of the image you can see a way to be careful with water. All pages are visible in the photo. The latter is a question mark for other options.

The pages were stapled and decorated with beautiful adhesive tape. Now we are at the dacha without access to a printer, so I drew the pictures myself. But the children understood all the pictures, so the main goal was achieved. I did most of the work, the children helped paint the details.

This time my daughter and I created some kind of installation. The idea came spontaneously and we brought it to life very quickly.

The main idea: the loss of clean water - the main resource of our planet.

The hardest part: the faucet from which a drop of water flows. I made it out of cardboard, and the drop is a piece of a bag. While I was making a faucet and attaching it to it using plasticine, my daughter was looking for and laying out earthly inhabitants, whose life depends on the presence of clean water.

The idea for the craft was inspired by the cartoon “The Tale of the White Ice,” where a penguin and a whale teach: “Cleanliness is the key to health!”, “Order comes first!”

Using black and blue plasticine on cardboard, Vladik made a dirty oil slick in the ocean. Then an ice block made of foam was glued onto the spot. We made trash out of pieces of paper. The ice floe on our sides was also “contaminated” with black plasticine. Next, we molded it and attached it to the ice floe using a toothpick. Finally, a poster was made over the penguin using two sticks, paper and tape. Our craft is ready.

The idea came from my mother following the footsteps of the well-known posters in the USSR. But I wanted to be more original, and for the child to participate. Therefore, our droplets became multi-layered. Mom cut out 3 drops of 3 different sizes, even their materials were slightly different (cardboard, colored paper and velvet paper). First, we folded the drops in half, repeating the concept of more and less in the process, then my daughter coated the edge of the drop with glue and stuck it on. This is how our droplets were born.

Then mom finished drawing the faucet and came up with a valve on top that you can turn if you want. It is made of two strips of cardboard, secured with a pin (the needle is taped at the back for safety). And now our poster is ready, it took its place in the bathroom, on the closet door, so that the whole family would not forget to turn off the water.
