The peak of Alexander Barykin’s popularity occurred in the eighties. We decided to remember his work, as well as other brightest domestic performers of that time.

Alexander was born in the village of Berezovo, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, but as a child he and his family moved to the town of Lyubertsy near Moscow. He began studying music while still in school, organizing his first group in high school and performing with it on dance floors. It was then that he wrote the first songs and poems. It is interesting that, having already become popular, he very rarely allowed himself to perform songs based on his own poems.

Barykin graduated from the vocal department of Gnesinka, and then in absentia from the Krasnodar Institute of Culture.

His professional career began in 1973. At first, he performed in various groups - “Muscovites”, “Jolly Fellows”, “Gems”. In 1979, he organized the Carnival group, in which he performed together with Vladimir Kuzmin. The team became incredibly popular, however, it broke up and reassembled, but without Kuzmin. With Barykin as a soloist, he became truly stellar.

In the early nineties, the artist began to have problems with his ligaments, and he was temporarily forced to interrupt performances and recordings, returning only in the 2000s.

The most famous songs: “Bouquet”, “Airport”, “TV program for tomorrow”, “20.00”, “Beyond that river”, “Miracle Island”.

After school, Kuzmin went to the Dnepropetrovsk Glinka Music College, where he chose the flute as an instrument.

He began his career by participating in various groups, the most popular of which was Carnival, which he founded together with Alexander Barykin. The artist’s collaboration with Alla Pugacheva added considerable success. He was the soloist of her song theater “Recital”, wrote songs for Prima Donna and, of course, sang with her.

In 1987, he embarked on a solo voyage, which he continues to successfully do to this day. In total, he has about 20 albums and more than 200 songs.

Vladimir's real fame came after the release of the film "Above the Rainbow" in 1986, where the main character performed by Dmitry Maryanov sang in his voice. Almost until the mid-nineties, Presnyakov consistently entered the charts of the most popular young Russian performers, receiving music awards and prizes.

In addition, in his youth he began to actively get involved in sports, played tennis for 10 years and received a youth rank.

Saltykov was brought back to music by The Beatles. To listen to the quartet’s songs, he even worked part-time at a construction site - he had to buy a tape recorder for something. The more music there was in life, the more Victor himself wanted to sing.

This opportunity was given to him in 1983 as part of the Manufactura group. At one of the festivals, the soloist was noticed by Alexander Nazarov and invited to the Forum group. From this time on, Saltykov’s success began.

Best domestic performer of the eighties:
    Vote

It is well known that the appearance in the West of such groups as the Beatles, Rolling Stones, and Scorpions had a huge impact on both world and domestic pop music culture. The difference is that Western bands, when starting their careers, were free to swim, choosing the recording studios that suited them best. In the USSR the situation was much more complicated. The legendary Russian rock originates in the late 60s and early 70s and becomes almost the dominant direction. Almost every school, both in large and small cities, has its own rock band or vocal and instrumental ensemble (hereinafter referred to as VIA). The most talented of the children receive a good musical education and dream of starting a professional career. This is where the difficulties begin. The fact is that official VIAs have the opportunity to record discs at the monopolist Melodiya studio, give concerts, and participate in television programs. But they do not have the right to perform their own songs if they are not members of the Composers' Union. Rock bands sing whatever they want, but do not receive platforms for performances and are forced to release their music as samizdat, give concerts in apartments and in provincial clubs remote from cities. Such famous rock groups as “Time Machine”, “Slavs”, “Scythians”, “Skomorokhi” went through this. Censorship was strict. One could easily end up under arrest for unauthorized concerts. No matter what, musical groups in this difficult time for domestic music are growing like mushrooms. Such truly wonderful groups appear - such as “Gems”, “Ariel”, “Jolly Guys”, “Flowers”, “Earthlings”, etc. The lyrical compositions of these groups are amazing: they are simple and at the same time piercingly melodic. It is not surprising that they are loved and remembered to this day. So, in the 70s, VIA and rock teams existed in parallel, whose members often ran from one camp to another and back. The 80s are famous for the fact that at this time 1 rock club appeared in Leningrad and even real rock festivals began to be held. The purpose of these events is some kind of ordering of the rock movement, which at times really gets out of control. The TV show “Musical Ring” appears, in which some rock bands are allowed to perform. The second powerful wave of Russian rock is rolling in: the rock Olympus of the groups Kino, Alisa and others is literally exploding. Their performance style is defined as “new way”. Agatha Christie begins playing her famous psychedelic music. At the peak of popularity are “Nautilus Pompilius” and “Zoo”. Time passes, the order in the country is changing. Rock musicians even manage to take part in the filming of films, which, by the way, are very good and later became cult films (Needle, Assa, Burglar). Some VIA and rock groups still perform successfully and attract large audiences. They also perform new compositions, talented and professional. But for some reason, the frantic delight of the audience is caused by songs that have already been listened to a million times. It seems that the musicians created all the best during Soviet times.
