About the feast of the Holy Theophany

The feast is called Theophany because at the Baptism of the Lord the Most Holy Trinity appeared to the world (Matthew 3:13-17; Mark 1:9-11; Luke 3:21-22). God the Father spoke from heaven about the Son, the Son was baptized by the holy Forerunner of the Lord John, and the Holy Spirit descended on the Son in the form of a dove. Since ancient times, this holiday has been called the Day of Enlightenment and the Feast of Lights, because God is Light and appeared to enlighten "those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death" (Matt. 4:16) and save the fallen human race by grace.

In the ancient Church it was the custom to baptize those who were catechumens on the eve of Theophany, since Baptism is the spiritual enlightenment of people.

The beginning of the feast of the Epiphany dates back to apostolic times. It is mentioned in the Apostolic Constitutions. From the 2nd century, the testimony of St. Clement of Alexandria about the celebration of the Baptism of the Lord and the night vigil performed before this feast has been preserved.

In the 3rd century, on the feast of the Epiphany, conversations during Divine services between the holy martyr Hippolytus and St. Gregory the Wonderworker are known. In the following centuries - from the 4th to the 9th century - all the great fathers of the Church - Gregory the Theologian, John Chrysostom, Ambrose of Milan, John of Damascus held special conversations about the feast of the Epiphany. Saints Joseph the Studite, Theophanes and Byzantium wrote many hymns for this feast, which are still sung at Divine Liturgy today. The Monk John of Damascus said that the Lord was baptized not because He Himself had a need for purification, but in order to "bury human sin with the waters", fulfill the law, reveal the sacrament of the Holy Trinity and, finally, sanctify the "water nature" and give us an image and an example Baptism.

Born in Moscow. In 1988 he graduated from Moscow State University, Faculty of Soil Science. From the age of 25 he has been working at the Student Theater of Moscow State University (now MOST). - What did you dream of becoming as a child?

- As a child, I dreamed of becoming an astronomer, then a mathematician, then an archaeologist - in a word, I wanted to do science.

- What influenced the choice of profession?

- I was fond of chemistry from the seventh grade, I was a young chemist, I read a university textbook like a novel. Knew chemistry better than the teacher. But to say that I was fond of chemistry, because my father, mother and grandmother graduated from the Mendeleev Institute, is impossible. They didn’t talk about chemistry at home, there were no test tubes in the corners. It is the same with the theater: he was engaged in drama circles, he was always in sight, on stage, but he did not plan to become an artist. When I entered Moscow State University at the Faculty of Soil Science (by the way, I went there with a friend for company!), I joined the propaganda team. Since 1986 he has been playing in the theater of Moscow State University. He came there with V. Pelsh, A. Kortnev, I. Bogushevskaya. I was even a director-teacher! So my love for chemistry and passion for the theater got along in me. In the end, the theater won: a hobby turned into a main profession. Rehearsals, performances began to take away all the time, I had to leave school. Yes Yes! There was such an act of self-sacrifice in my life: I went to school after university, taught chemistry there, and English, and world art culture, was in the wings. But in order for everything to work out well, you cannot be scattered, you need to give yourself to the end of one thing. This case found me: I got on television.

What do you dislike about modern television? What do you like?

- I have a negative attitude towards television. Why do they show bad things so often? Is there really nothing good left in life? But you need to think about the soul, about the children, at least about your own!

What TV programs did you watch as a child? What are your kids watching?

- Like everyone else, I remember "Visiting a Fairy Tale", "Alarm Clock", "ABVGDEIK". The presenters of these programs loved children, their love flowed from the screen to us. And now I don’t have a TV in my house, it doesn’t work. I think that if children grow up in a family, it is necessary to protect them from the harmful effects of modern television. Son Seryozha (he is five years old) watches good, kind cartoons. And I also reviewed all my issues of chemistry lessons!

- How did you get on the TV channel "My Joy"? What attracts you to work on it?

- On television, I worked in the program "Themselves with a mustache": I translated American editions into Russian. There he met Marina Shramenko. When she invited me to do a new program "Shishkin Les", he gladly agreed and became one of the first three hosts. Good people have gathered here, and their goal is good.

— Do you like the role of a teacher in the program “Academy of Entertaining Sciences. Chemistry"?

- The hobby of youth has grown into a profession, it turns out that way. I am interested in chemistry, I do not play a professor, I do not memorize the text as a lesson - I really know this subject well and I can teach it! I try to make every release of high quality, for this sometimes I have to work on the script. But I really like it!

- You host the Shishkino Les programs in which you have to communicate with small viewers. Tell me, is it possible to learn a child's language?

- Children should be loved, this is the main thing. Only on this wave can mutual understanding be reached. I was lucky: my son is just now at the age of the Shishkin Les audience. Yes, and work at school taught me something. In any case, I am firmly convinced: children must be loved, their opinion must be taken into account! You need to love and understand what children live, then you can become closer to them. For example, I like our puppet characters like a child: Shunya, Zubka. So, I already have points of contact with our little viewers.

- In what capacity are you more interested in: presenter or author?

— Being an author is interesting, but difficult, perhaps also because I write slowly. It so happened that I treat the word with respect, a kind of trepidation, so I work meticulously on the text. You always want to find the right phrase, the exact turn in the material. It's very interesting, it's a new kind of work for me.

Every person has their own idea of ​​happiness. And what does the happiness of Alexei Nesterenko look like?

— To love and be loved, to recognize others and to be recognized! This formula will suit everyone, I'm not original: everyone wants it. You just need to understand: in order to be loved and recognized, you need to love others. I thought for a long time why I stayed in the theater, and I realized one simple thing: I just wanted to get to know as many people as possible! I want to be with people, to be necessary to them. Maybe that's why I have many friends, buddies, just acquaintances. It is important to not be alone in this world.

I want to tell a little story: one day my son and I had a very important conversation. We stood in a traffic jam and watched as a beggar approached one car, then another, begging for alms. I started talking out loud. Why does he ask strangers? How did he live, why was he left alone? Maybe there was a fire, and all his goodness burned down? He is not to blame for the fire that took everything from him. But he is to blame for the fact that he is deprived of friends and close people who could help him. I said this, and I myself dreamed that my son would have reliable friends, be needed by them and himself could count on them. It seems that my five-year-old boyfriend understood something. He paused and suddenly said: “I would give him money, dad!”. He understood why a person should be pitied!
