The group has existed since September 29, 2004 (the date of the first Alai Oli concert in Yekaterinburg, at the PV in Berezovsky club). Around the same time, the first demo was recorded - "God is love." From that moment on, the group has been active in concert activities in their hometown, and after a few months, an offer was received from Moscow to perform at the 60 Years of Bob Marley festival in DK Gorbunov, on the same stage with the five best reggae bands in Russia and Massive Attack vocalist Horace Andy .

Upon their return, Alai Oli gives interviews and an acoustic concert on Radio Pilot, and a few weeks later they perform at the legendary Rock City club in Novosibirsk.

In the spring of 2005, a new concert program was already ready, and the group was recording their second demo, which included the songs "Jamana", "Don't Leave" and the song "Natasha", which unexpectedly became a hit. Between performances in clubs, the group takes part in the festival "Old New Rock - On the wave", performs at a biker rally in Irbit, and also organizes "Alai Oli Happy Birthday" in the Playnet club - a party where the best reggae, ska and hip-hop group of Yekaterinburg.

At the beginning of 2006, Alai Oli gave one of their best concerts in the Tochka club in Moscow with a new line-up - a second percussionist (Mils) and a brass section appeared in the group, so far in the person of one person, Sergey Karmanov (saxophone, clarinet). It was from that concert that the group gained great support from fans, which is felt at all subsequent concerts in Moscow.

Back in Yekaterinburg, Alai Oli realize that they are ready to start working on their first album. The TV company "Russia - Ural" provides the group with a large studio. To take part in the recording, Alexander Kosilov, the trumpeter of the famous Moscow bands Da Bats and JahGun, comes to Yekaterinburg.

In the summer of that year, the group takes part in the festivals "Heat" (Sysert), "CHP v On the Wave", as headliners at the festival in Krasnoturinsk. After Alai Oli HB - 2006, the band decides to stop touring for half a year to devote themselves to working on the album.

On February 1, the group's first album, "Yes, bro?", Is released, which includes 13 tracks.
On February 8, 2007, Alai Oli perform at the reggae festival in the Moscow club B1 MAXIMUM, on the same stage with Jamaican dub legend Lee Scratch Perry. The Moscow presentation of the album takes place on February 14 at the Zhest club. And, finally, on March 1, Alai Oli will present their album in Yekaterinburg, at the PV in SOVKINO club.

In December 2008, the group released their second album, which was called "Snowy Barcelona".

In 2011, a new album was released - "Satta Massagana". On December 1, 2011, a presentation took place in St. Petersburg at the Cosmonaut club, on December 3 in Moscow at the Milk club and on December 11 in Kyiv.

Main

Also in November 2012, the album "Lullabies for Rudboy" was released, already recorded in his own studio. In it, the group returned to its original sound - reggae, which could not but please the fans :)

And at the end of December-beginning of January 2012, the group released another EP - "Durge", named after the name written by Olga Markes. It included 3 songs, which were released gradually, as if in two runs.

The special sound and original texts of the Alai Oli group brought unprecedented popularity to the participants. The creators managed to find a unique style that soon fell in love with the audience.

Band history and line-up

The biography of the Alai Oli team began on September 29, 2004 in the city of Yekaterinburg. The founders and ideological inspirers of the group were Olga Markes and Alexander Shapovsky, connected by friendly relations. They decided to take the name from the fairy tale of the soloist Marquez called "Iron Lion". According to the plot of the story, this phrase is translated as "bear positive."

Once the demo recording of the song came to the organizers of the Jah Factory festival. After listening, the team was invited to perform on stage. An interesting point is that at that time there was no group as such, so Olga and Alexander literally in 2 weeks assembled a team that performed at the festival. They received a pass to the final, having won the first listeners. More than that, the participants were invited to perform in different cities of the country.

In the team, Olga Marquez became a soloist, this is her first and only brainchild in the musical field. From early childhood, the girl was fond of writing poetry, and she began to write her first songs in the 9th grade, without having a musical education.

The texts of the compositions for the group are still being written by Olga. A feature of the soloist is often called a catchy "smiling" voice. Indeed, in an interview, Marquez admitted that she writes songs with a smile.

The second founder Alexander Shapovsky plays the bass guitar. Behind the drum kit is Ruslan Gadzhimuradov, and Andrey Artemiev is behind the keys. Denis Kharlashin is responsible for the guitar, and Ilya Flyugeltaub is responsible for the trumpet and flugelhorn. This is the famous group Alai Oli.

Each of them is not a session member, but a full-fledged member of the group who voluntarily invests time and effort into it. Musicians, not counting the founders, lead a busy creative life in other groups. The group rarely performs, that's why Alai Oli's concerts are so bright and emotionally strong. The members believe that if the band regularly tours, it will turn into a job, which is contrary to the philosophy of Alai Oli.

Music

The key moment in the life of the group was an invitation to a birthday concert. The festival was attended by the country's leading reggae bands, as well as frontman Andy Horace.

During the year after the official creation of the group, the members actively toured, taking part in many summer festivals. And at the beginning of 2006, Alai Oli performed in the Moscow club "Tochka" with an individual concert.

A year later, the first album called "Yes, Bro?" was released, which opened the way for musicians to large venues and festivals. By the end of 2008, the members presented their second album "Snowy Barcelona" to fans, which received a favorable response from the audience.

Significant events in the life of the team were the move from their hometown to St. Petersburg after meeting art manager Artyom Dertev and a performance at the Green Theater in the capital of Russia.

The song "Wings" of the group "Alai Oli"

After the arrival of Ilya Flyugeltaub, a trumpeter with a classical musical education, the recognizable rhythms of Alai Oli were finally formed. As for the genre of music, the band is usually referred to as reggae-ska due to the fact that both directions are present in the band's tracks, despite their apparent similarity.

The soloist of the group admits that Alai Oli plays "conditional" reggae, and the sound is more of the Ural music, the essence of which is folk and simplicity.

For two years, the group toured the expanses of the motherland and beyond - in the cities of Europe. At the end of 2011 "Alai Oli" presented the third studio album "Satta Massagana". This release became a turning point for the musicians, because after it the team develops a new sound, which was built in a natural way, absorbing a lot of light and a drop of mysticism.

Alai Oli celebrated a significant anniversary - 10 years - with big concerts in her native Yekaterinburg, St. Petersburg and Moscow. In the spring of 2015, the team performed with a symphony orchestra, the program of which was conceived and implemented by trumpeter Ilya.

The song "Three Stripes" by the group "Alai Oli" (cover of "Animal Jazz")

Around the same time, work is underway on the upcoming release. In the new disc "Balance and Depth" Alai Oli embodied the absolute balance of the light and dark sides of the world. The album was released in two versions: the "blue" version is a high-quality and clear production, and the "red" version is more of a "tube" format. At this time, Alai Oli recorded a cover of a hit called "Three Stripes".

In December 2017, the group presented the mini-album "Oshhh" on the Internet, which included 3 tracks. Together with the new material, Alai Oli released a video for the title track.

Alai Oli now

The Alai Oli group continues to create wonderful music and delight listeners with new songs, replenishing their discography. In the spring of 2018, the single "The City Does Not Accept" was released, recorded together with a member of the group. The song hit the Chart Dozen hit parade on Nashe Radio.

The film "Alise" from the group "Alai Oli"

At the same time, the team presented a "non-film" called "Alise", directed by Vitaly Akimov. A little later, the group released a music album of the same name, which is an archetype at the center of several stories combined into one. Alice is not a fictional character and not just one person, the dialogues in the visual album are recorded on a voice recorder or cameras.

Since the material has a ring composition, each chapter can be the first, each can be the last. Therefore, history has no beginning and no end.

In the summer of 2018, the group performed a concert in St. Petersburg at the large-scale festival "Peter, I love you".

Alai Oli recently expressed her desire to do a small tour in May 2019 in Kamchatka and the Far East. Details of the tour are not yet known, as the concert program has not yet been formed.

A group formed Alai Oli September 29, 2004 in Yekaterinburg. The founders are the soloist of the group Olga Marquez and bass player Alexander Shapovsky who have been friends for many years. Style Alai Oli can be attributed to both reggae-ska, since both directions are present in the group's songs, although they are quite similar.

The name Alai Oli was taken from the fairy tale "The Iron Lion" by soloist Olga Marquez. The literal Alai Oli means "to bring positive."

Already in September 2004, the group performed at the Ja Factory reggae vestival due to the fact that the demo-recording of the song got to the organizers of the festival. The song, of course, was liked by the organizers, after which an invitation was received to the team to perform on stage. Interestingly, at this point, as such, the group itself Alai Oli did not exist - literally in two weeks Olga Markes and Alexander Shapovsky assembled a team that performed at the festival! The group reached the final of the festival and won the first fans, and also received several invitations to perform in different cities of our country.

But, perhaps, the key moment was an invitation a few months later at a concert dedicated to the birthday of Bob Marley on the Gorbushka stage. The leading reggae bands of the country, as well as Andy Horace, were invited to this festival.

Soon the group gave an acoustic concert on Pilot radio, and gives a concert in the Rock City club (Novosibirsk).

In 2005, the guys recorded new songs, among them: "Jamans", "Don't Leave" and "Natasha".

In 2006, a second percussionist and saxophonist joined the group. The group gives a concert in the Tochka club, which has become extremely successful. From that moment on, the group began to work on the first album " Yes Bro?". Alai Oli comes to the aid of the TV company "Russia - Ural", which provided the group with a studio to record the album.

In the summer of 2006, Alai Oli performs at the Heat festival and gives a concert at the SNR v On the Wave festival.

Six months later, the first album "" is released, which includes 13 tracks. And then everything went up for Alai Oli - a performance in 2007 at the B1 Maximum club with Lee Perry; in 2009 - performance with Manu Chao at the Green Theatre.

At the end of 2008, Alai Oli released her second album " ". Both albums were released with the band's own funds. Since 2009, Alai Oli have moved from Yekaterinburg to St. Petersburg. Lyrics are written by Olga Marquez.

In December 2011, the group released their third official album called "". The group's lead singer Olga Marquez described the new album as follows: “The Satta Massagana album is different from those albums that were written after school. Sing every time about the fact that everything is fine, when in fact you are tormented by doubts and torment more and more. This album is who I am. If you don't like this album, then you don't like me. But it's not bad - it's impossible to please everyone. It is foolish to expect the world to accept you for who you are if you wear masks all the time."

In March 2012, the group released the mini-album "", which included the tracks: "Main", "Sparks" and "Fucking Space".

In November 2012, Alai Oli released her fourth album titled " ", which includes tracks previously performed live. "Lullabies for Rudboy" is very different in style from "Satta Massagana" and brings Alai Oli back to where they started and why they are loved on the Internet.

In December 2012, the group made a New Year's gift for their fans by releasing the mini-album "Durge", the title of which is taken from the book by Oli Marquez.

At the moment, the Alai Oli group conducts tours in Russia, Ukraine and Belarus.
